According to Hosea 4:6, we are destroyed or brought to powerlessness by the refusal of the knowledge of the Word of God, then the antithesis of that is we will be POWERFULL as we receive and understand the Word of God in our lives! But we have to DISCIPLINE ourselves, (that is almost a cuss word to some folks) may we be delivered!

Hosea 4:6 NLT, “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me. Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.” You know it is one thing to be ignorant, but to REFUSE GOD KNOWLEDGE is ignorance gone to seed. Sometimes, the Word will rub us the wrong way, or correct us…we need to get our minds renewed to the fact that it will be better for us if we listen and obey the Word.

Approximately 1/3 of the Bible is made up of prophecies. In the OLD TESTAMENT, there are over 350 prophecies which Jesus fulfilled through his birth, life, death and resurrection. Michah, 5:2, He would be born in Bethlehem; Isaiah 7:14, He would be born of a virgin; Isaiah 9:7, He would be a descendant of David; Zechariah 11:12, He would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver; Psalm 22:7-8, He would be mocked; John 3:14, He would be crucified; Psalms 22:16, He would be pierced; Isaiah 53:9, He would die with the wicked, yet be buried with the rich. For ONE PERSON, by random chance, to fulfill just EIGHT prophecies is considered a STATISTICAL IMPOSSIBILITY!

Luke 2:10, “I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” “Good tidings” is the Greek Word where we get the word EVANGELIZE which means to announce good news. It portrays the best news anyone has ever heard. The Good News of Jesus Christ is the best news anyone could ever hear! It is such great news it produces “great joy” in the hearers..

This Glory of God was not a light that lit up the entire countryside; rather, it was a shaft or beam of light that began to shine down directly on the shepherds. How did the shepherds react to being in the “spotlight?” The Word says that they were “sore afraid.” Which in the Greek means they feared with a great fear or they were seized with a terrible fear. I guess so…I kind of think that you and I would have been the same way.

The night Jesus was born, the shepherds in Luke 2:8 tells us they were literally CONSTANTLY GUARDING or CONSTANTLY WATCHING. They were very serious about their assignment. Luke 2:9, “And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.” The shepherds were not expecting an angelic encounter. They were completely amazed and shocked at what was taking place. Then the Word says “………..the angel of the Lord came upon them…..” the word “lo” and the phrase “came upon” in the Greek communicate TOTAL SHOCK, BEWILDERMENT, and ASTONISHMENT.

FUN FACTS ABOUT CHRISTMAS SONGS: “LET IT SNOW,” is one of the absolute favorite Christmas songs. However, it is not about Christmas at all! If you go back and look at the lyrics, there is no mention of the holiday. The song is simply about a snowstorm and staying comfy cozy in the house.
