Being sound in patience is to answer every doubt and fear with the firm assurance and confession that God’s Word is true, no matter what we feel…no matter what we hear…or no matter what we see.  Regardless of what storms may come our way, the Word of God CANNOT FAIL.  In that kind of atmosphere, faith is free to move and overcome whatever the enemy has put in our way.  Read James 1:12-21

James 1:12-21 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.  Do not err, my beloved brethren.  Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be kind of firstfruits of his creatures.  Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.  Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save you souls.”  In order to properly develop the power of patience, we must know what the Bible says about testings and trials.  The Greek word translated “temptations” in these scriptures is the same word for “trials” and “testings.”  It is vitally important that we know, from verse 13, that God is not tested by evil, and He doesn’t tempt or test men with evil.  We are warned to NEVER SAY we are tested by God!

James 1 and verse 14 explains what a test or trial is.  It’s anything that applies pressure on the lusts or desires of the flesh.  Any pressure that draws us away from God’s Word is the beginning of a test.  If we then act on that lust or pressure, sin is the result.  Still, we have a way of escape, because the Words says that we have an advocate (attorney, lawyer) with the Father, Jesus Christ.  He is faithful to forgive us our sins when we confess them (John 1:9).  We are still MORE THAN CONQUERORS in Jesus.  When the enemy applies pressure on our bodies to make them sick, we don’t have to succumb to that pressure.  When he presents us with financial ruin, we don’t have to yield to the temptation to turn to the world and borrow.  Most of the time, this only makes matters worse.  Thank God, we can turn to God’s Word in Philippians 4:19 and use our faith.  Then, regardless of circumstances, we exercise the power of patience and continue to stand fast in the liberty to which we have been called.  Remember, it doesn’t matter WHO you are, it matters WHOSE you are!

Great time of pouring out of PEACE in our intercessory prayer group last night, Jesus is wonderful!

Remember, the ministry of the Holy Spirit in all of this.  He is continually working in you, teaching, interceding and backing your faith with His mighty power.  This is where the power of patience is so important.  As long as your faith is active, the Spirit of God is active.  Don’t forget, it is IMPOSSIBLE to please Him without faith.  Patience guards against your admitting a doubt or confession of fear into your consciousness.  Even when we S-T-R-E-T-C-H our faith as far as it will go, He who is within us is greater than he who is in the world.  The entrance of His Word gives LIGHT…LIGHT ALWAYS DESTROYS DARKNESS!

Don’t get so caught up in the “busyness” of Christmas, that you forget whose birthday we are celebrating.

1st Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Three things we need to recognize about trials: 1. Testings and temptations are COMMON to man.  Not one is ever tested or tried with things that are not common to mankind.  Satan does not have the right to call upon his experience as a heavenly, anointed being to apply things that are outside the realm of humanity, as tests or trials.    2. God is faithful…you will not face anything you cannot overcome.  3. God ALWAYS PROVIDES A WAY OF ESCAPE.

2nd Corinthians 10:4 “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)”The enemies weapons are no match for the weapons God has provided for us.  Thank God, the weapons of our warfare are NOT CARNAL (flesh and blood).  BUT the enemy is limited to the things that are COMMON to mankind, BUT WE ARE NOT!  We have access to the full armor of God, HIMSELF.  Our patience rests solidly on the full assurance that, no matter what comes next, Jesus has provided more than enough to victory to put us over.  You are going OVER not UNDER!

Sometimes, I have heard from many Christians that “….All things work together for good to them that love God” as a reason to fail.  That is one of the reasons that the Apostle Paul told Timothy to “STUDY” so that you can “RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH.” (2nd Tim. 2:15) Just that phrase alone, must mean that you can WRONGLY divide the Word.  For instance in the Scripture from Romans 8:28, people use it to say that “all the devil does to me will turn out for my good.  After all, you know the Bible says we are made stronger by the trials and tribulations of this life.”  The WORD DOES NOT SAY THAT AT ALL!  When the Apostle Paul wrote that ALL things work together for the good of those that love God and are called according to His purpose, he was teaching IN CONTEXT on intercessory prayer, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

MEN OF DESTINY TONIGHT: this will be the last meeting of the year, we will be looking at lesson 6.

Romans 8:26-28 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”  All things work together for the good of those who love God, when we are operating together in intercessory prayer!  More often than not, when I have heard this Scripture quoted, it was something like this: ‘and we know that all BAD THINGS work together;” Now, I realize that God can turn BAD THINGS around, but contextually this verse is not saying ALL BAD THINGS…in fact BAD THINGS isn’t mentioned.  The THINGS that work together are the WORD OF GOD, the GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, the NAME OF JESUS, and the POWERFUL WEAPONS of the Body of Christ.  Those are the THINGS that work together for the good of those who love God. As we operate by the Holy Spirit, the things that the enemy throws at you will be overcome by the power of the things of God, and VICTORY WILL BE THE RESULT!  THE WORD OF GOD WORKS WHEN WE PUT IT TO WORK….and YOU ARE WELL ABLE!

12/16/2021

In times past, the times when I have heard “all things work together for the good” used, it was used in context to some tragedy or difficulty that someone was experiencing, such as: “well you know, that airplane crashed, and all the passengers were killed but we know that all things work together for the good.” Or something like: “I lost my job and became homeless, but I know that all things work together for good.”  NO…NO…NO…a thousand times no, trials and tribulations do not build our faith, they can build character.  If it were the trials and tribulations that make us strong, everyone on earth would be a spiritual giant.  Certainly, there have been enough trials and tribulations to perfect the saints.  This must not be the avenue through which God perfects (matures) us. Ephesians 4:11-12 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, pastors and teachers; FOR THE PERFECTING OF THE SAINTS, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”  (emphasis mine) This is the way the saints are perfected–not through tribulations.  We are to be perfected by the Word through the ministry.  We should be hearing things like: “Praise God sister so-and-so just inherited a million dollars, and we know that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD.”

GOD IS SOOOO GOOD! What a wonderful time we had together last night at intercessory prayer.  Thanks so much for your involvement.
