(Genesis 17) The covenant (an agreement) was the basis for Abraham’s faith. The Almighty God, (El Shaddai) who cannot lie, and it is impossible for Him to lie (Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18), made a covenant with a man who only had to do what He asked him to do and He would bless and prosper him mightily. In earlier days, if one tribe or tribe member broke their word the other tribe would literally hunt them down and kill them. Covenants were solemn, we need to recognize that God’s making covenant with us is a Holy thing!
