Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Through the years, I have observed many Christians who seem to struggle day after day, week after week, month after month never seeming to be victorious in their lives. I am not talking about somebody who just got born again yesterday, I am referring to individuals who have been Christians for quite a while, even years in some cases. The Word teaches us over and over that we are to be victorious, overcomers, and more than conquerors in our day to day lives. So what then is the problem? I would like to present to you what I believe is the foundational answer to the problem. May each of us take the time to examine ourselves and see if the shoe fits.
We live in a society today that has what I refer to as the “McDonald syndrome,” which is the mindset of I don’t want to wait around, I want it now! I am that way in a lot of cases, but I have also learned that some things take time ( in the natural) in order to receive the fullness of what our desires are.
For instance, if you want a college degree in law, you don’t just walk up to some college that grants law degrees and hold out your hand. No, first you have to go to grade school, then middle school, then high school, then college, THEN you have to go on to study for your “doctor of jurisprudence.” Along the way, I am reasonably sure that there are times when you would be contemplating quitting because it is taking “too long,” or seems to be “too difficult.” And sometimes that happens, and you never get your law degree.
But then there are those who have a mindset and determination that no matter what it seems like, you are going to accomplish your dream and get your law degree and begin practicing law. But it doesn’t come easy there are lots of “road-blocks” in the way. But, you are DETERMINED that you are going to accomplish what you have set your heart on and one way or another, you graduate and begin practicing law.
I remember this individual who desired to become a lawyer, and he was raising a family, and going to school at the same time…..he even had to take on an extra job to help with expenses. He even delivered newspapers to assist with the added expenses. His schedule did not have a lot of room for “self” but he had purposed in his heart that he was going to be an attorney…..AND HE DID….it took him a little longer than what may be considered “normal,” but HE DID IT! HE MADE UP HIS MIND…..AND HE REFUSED TO QUIT NO MATTER HOW DIFFICULT IT SEEMED TO BE! (continued tomorrow)
Yesterday’s trivia: They claimed that Pilate was no friend of Caesar (John 19:12) Today’s trivia: When Paul was robbed in the temple, who rescued him? Hint: Acts 22:30; 23:1-10.
YOU ARE WELL ABLE…AND YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH ALL THAT GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO!
