RESURRECTION WEEK: In the Upper Room during the Last Supper, Jesus shared Communion with all of His disciples, including Judas. He took the bread, broke it, and everyone ate. Likewise, He took the wine and served it, and everyone drank. The Communion ceremony signified the covenant between Jesus and His disciples. When Judas partook he was only PRETENDING to be in covenant. When Judas covenanted with the religious leaders, he broke the original covenant he’d made with Jesus or pretended to make bringing a curse upon himself. In 1 Cor. 11:27, Paul said, “…………………eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord UNWORTHILY…………….” UNWORTHILY refers to the condition of the heart…if you have betrayal in your heart or don’t intend to obey the Lord, you should NOT partake of Communion.
